It's the best because SHE SAID SO.
Missy looked around and wondered if everyone noticed she had the best balloon.
"Blue is always the best" she thought... "I bet everyone is jealous."
"Why the heck are they still smiling?"
But he loved her misplaced optimism.
Margret told him she made this dress in Home Ec. class and it was her favorite, because it had a picture of the house they were going to live in when they got married.
And he just laughed and laughed...
Because Billy knew the chances of him being a homeowner were slim.
It was like his best friend.
"Bobby looked lovingly at his blow dryer and remembered all the great hair days they have made together."
They wore something sequined and matching too.
The 1973 Rolling Hills Synchronized Lawnmowers practicing for the big Spring competition held this week at the John Deer Stadium. Team leader Lisa Jankowski (center) says "we've been working on our patterns. And since we placed last year in edging, we are confident we will take home the trophy again." All the ladies expressed much excitement to compete in their sport of choice. Says JoAnne Greenburough (on left) "After my divorce and I started mowing the yard myself, and I never dreamed it would turn into a career I could love!" Be sure to come out and support these lovely ladies this weekend. Remember, bring in an empty can of Tab Soft Drink for half price admission.
They liked to mix it up once in a while...
Ralphie, Henry and Warren-September 1965
_Henry and Warren are brothers.
And on this day their mother laid out their clothes.
Including totally outfit coordinating SOCKS.
And in their excitement to attend Aunt Julia's wedding (they had plans to trip the flower girl) they got those socks mixed up.
No one noticed until the photo was developed which was many months later when Aunt Julia was still refusing to talk to Henry and
Warrens mother, for "not controlling her hooligans at the wedding"
Turns out it was all Cousin Ralphie's idea anyway. And it turns out Aunt Julia called him carrot-top one too many times.
He went on to become a comedian.
Aunt Julia got divorced.
It's a pack leader thing.
"Early on baby Cesar trained the dog to bring him his toys."
Beating the devil at his own game.
"When Father O'Riley asked Margaret Ann to take over the new Sunday School class he probably should have asked what she had planned."
Special Cousins
Bobby over heard his parents say his favorite cousin Michael had to wear a helmet
all the time now because of a 'condition' and something about how 'special' he was.
Bobby knew exactly what he would do at the next family get together.
He wore a helmet too.
That made them both special.
He's miss her guacamole too.
Marie would take a moment everyday to stop and think about her secret plan to leave her husband.
She would smile when she thought how she was going to walk out right in the middle of laundry day.
That would show him not to ignore her emotional needs.
She hated her presents too.
Tayna was just very hard to please.
She hated all her presents too.
This was Tayna's last birthday party.
The next year her mother gave up and just gave her cash.
Dare to Dream.
Eleanor had her recurring dream again.
The one where she was flipping pancakes while running down Main Street in Disneyland to cross a finish line.
She wins the race everytime, but wakes up right before her feet touch the ground.
Being housewife has its challenges.
And for Eleanor dreaming big, is one of them.
And she always over packed too.
Sometimes Margret thought that if it wasn't for guilt trips,
she would never get to leave her house.
And she knew it too.
Anthony always thought Maria was his mother's favorite.
But when mother allowed her to stand on the new sofa for the photo, it confirmed it.
She made it perfectly clear without saying a word.
Rosalynn never intended to marry Paul.
And she knew along that he intended to marry her.
But Rosalynn was actually fond of Paul's older brother Tony,
who had plans of being a photographer.
So when Tony turned around from the front and said said "let me get a photo of the happy couple!", Rosalynn decided this was the time to let Tony the photographer know how she really felt.
With her eyes.
Paul and Rosalynn broke up by the time the photo was developed.
And Tony and Rosalynn were engaged later that year.
Paul never married. And never trusted his brother again.
The friendship that ended over Jello.
Erma knew that Minnie was bringing a Jello mold to the pot luck, but she brought one too. And hers had fruit floating in it. Who could compete with floating fruit? When Minnie asked Erma why she brought the same dish to the party she just smiled and said "Oh honey, they aren‘t the same! Mine has fruit!" That Erma was a passive aggressive pot luck meanie.
PhotoTalk: The Passive Aggressive gift
Even though Suzie promised not to post the photo of Glenda tripping on the office rug on Facebook, she knew she was ‘accidently’ going to anyway. “I guess shouldn’t have talked smack about me at the sales meeting last week” Don‘t feel too bad for Glenda. She got promoted the next week and promptly fired Suzie. Revenge. It’s the hot gift for Christmas this year.
PhotoTalk: Their Last Supper
The Vinci triplets thought this rehearsal super the night before the wedding was a total bore.
As Uncle Simon served the bread, Philip starred at his glass of water trying to turn it into wine.
Mathew prayed it would be over soon.
And Tommy remembered back to simpler times before Dad meet his devoutly Catholic soon-to-be
second wife and her daughter; ‘precious little Maria’.
Nothing left to do now.
But wait.
And see what happens next.
PhotoTalk: And she is still bitter about it...
“Kathryn can still remember the day her back problems started.”
PhotoTalk: All she wanted this year.
“No matter how hard Sophie wished, HER twin never appeared.”
PhotoTalk: Not the surprise Laura expected
Funny. This doesn’t look like a Tiffany box. How odd, because I am sure I was very clear about what you were supposed to surprise me with for Christmas this year DEAR. Now here DARLING... why don’t you just take this gift back to the store and get yourself over to Tiffany’s okay? I am sure they are open late on Christmas Eve. Now run along and remember dear... clarity, color, cut and carat. Shall I write that down for you?
